Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan generously. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions, adding required eggs, water, and oil. Mix until combined and pour into the pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Combine 4 tablespoons of melted butter, 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a bowl. Stir until smooth, microwaving if needed to soften brown sugar.
  3. Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes. Poke holes evenly throughout the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon, going about 80% deep.
  4. Pour the filling over the warm cake, gently pressing it into the holes to enhance flavor.
  5. Blend 8 oz. of cream cheese and 4 tablespoons of softened butter until creamy. Gradually sift in 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla while mixing until smooth.
  6. Spread frosting over the cooled cake. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
