Preparation Steps
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thawed shredded hash browns, season with salt and black pepper, and cook undisturbed for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Carefully flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
- In the same skillet, add more oil if necessary and crumble in the breakfast sausage. Cook over medium heat for 6-8 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside, leaving drippings.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and whole milk, seasoning with salt and pepper. Pour into the skillet and gently stir with a spatula, cooking for about 4-5 minutes until softly scrambled. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the bowls by dividing the crispy hash browns as the base, followed by scrambled eggs and cooked sausage. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top to melt.
- Finish by adding salsa and diced avocado on top. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped green onions and cilantro.
