  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80/20 ratio is best for moisture
  • 1 lb Ground Italian Sausage Can be omitted for a leaner option
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Use gluten-free if needed
  • 2 large Eggs Acts as a binder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Fresh onions can also be used
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
For the Cheese Filling
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese Can substitute with provolone
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Consider using grated or shredded forms
  • 1 cup Spinach Optional
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce Homemade or store-bought

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and optional spinach until well combined.
  4. Flatten the meat mixture into a rectangle, spread cheese filling evenly, roll into a log, sealing the filling inside.
  5. Place the rolled meatloaf seam-side down in a loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Pour marinara sauce over the top about 10 minutes before baking is complete.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
