  • 1 package Wonton wrappers Store-bought
For the Filling
  • 1 cup Sushi rice Short-grain rice is key
  • 3 tablespoons Rice vinegar Apple cider vinegar works as an alternative
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Honey or agave syrup can also be used
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Sea salt or kosher salt are great choices
For the Filling Mixture
  • 8 ounces Tuna steak (sushi-grade) Can swap for salmon or cooked shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons Kewpie mayonnaise Can replace with regular mayo or vegan version
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato ketchup or sauce Sriracha can add spice instead
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha Optional
  • 1 medium Avocado Hummus is a vegan alternative
  • 1 teaspoon Lime zest Lemon zest can be used as a substitute
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon Furikake or black sesame seeds For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap each wonton wrapper around a cream horn or cone mold, sealing edges with water.
  2. In a deep frying pan, heat coconut oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry wrapped wonton cones for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Cook the sushi rice according to package instructions. Stir in rice vinegar, sugar, and salt while warm.
  4. Cube or flake the tuna into bite-sized pieces. Add Kewpie mayonnaise, tomato sauce, sriracha, and lime zest, mixing well.
  5. Fill each fried wonton cone with sushi rice, slices of avocado, and the tuna mixture.
  6. Sprinkle furikake or black sesame seeds on top and assemble cones upright for serving.
